Three Bedrooms in the Concrete Wild Sure Aren't Cheap

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Price: $2,200,000
The Skinny: Anchorage, Alaska accounts for 40 percent of the state's population, but it might as well have a national monopoly on awkward '70s architecture. This property, with its Vegas-gold tint to the windows, doesn't stack up well against the state's natural beauty. Things only get worse inside the three-bed, four-bath condo currently for sale on the top floor. While the furnishings disappoint—and are thankfully negotiable—it's the parking lot views that really fall flat. When Christopher McCandless ran away to Alaska and Into The Wild, he was chasing a romantic vision apparently not reciprocated by some of Anchorage's wealthier residents. Oh, and that's right, the apartment is some of the priciest real estate in the city, costing $2.2M. Almost justifies a move to Wasilla.
