Design Doyenne Embraces Slug Sex

In New York's new weekly Design Hunting newsletter, editor Wendy Goodman links to the following event listing: "Local artist Paula Hayes has established herself as a design-world darling through two decades of crafting terrariums in the form of living sculptures. Her work makes a large-scale appearance in the lobby of MoMA this week in an installation called “Nocturne of the Limax maximus.” Inspired by the nighttime mating rituals of the Limax maximus (more commonly known as the leopard slug), Hayes has created floor-to-ceiling structures of cast acrylic and handblown glass, brimming with fertile vegetation."
