Shelter Magazine Editors: Ah, The Way They Were

An August 2003 issue of Hamptons Cottages & Gardens made its way into Curbed National HQ a few days ago (above); in it an editor's letter (and a couple of feature stories) penned by then-editor in chief Newell Turner, who's currently at the helm of House Beautiful. Which got us thinking: where are they now? While newly seated Architectural Digest editor Margaret Russell has yet to produce an issue with her name up top—January will be her first—we dug up one of her editor's letter from a 2005 issue of Elle Decor, her former domain. We also found old work by former Domino staffer Dara Caponigro, now running Veranda; Stephen Drucker, now running Town & Country; and Michael Boodro, now running Elle Decor. We took the liberty of republishing clips from these archived treasures after the jump. (Many thanks to the Internet, without which this project might have never been possible.)
