Location: Zephyr Cove, Nev.
The Skinny: Sited on 210 coveted acres on the shores of Lake Tahoe, the estate known as Tranquility was built in 2000 by Tommy Hilfiger co-founder Joel Horowitz. The laundry list of exotic features reads like a resort brochure: two par-3 golf holes, a 3,200-bottle wine cellar, an art studio with ceramics kiln, an indoor swimming pool, a horse stable, boathouse, 16-car garage, and an NBA-regulation basketball court. The absurdities extend to the decor too, of course, what with a replica of the Titanic staircase, flooring reclaimed from a 17th-century French chateau, and a carved bronze door once owned by newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst. Despite all the unique features and stunning location, Tranquility has been languishing on the market for more than four years. Maybe that has something to do with the price tag: a cool $100M. At this point, it doesn't look like a chop is in sight.
