An Innovative Sound/Sight Hybrid

Today leading design writer Pilar Vilades makes Sony's day when she names Monolithic Design, from British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, her favorite concept of the year. "What BarberOsgerby had done was to take a proprietary Sony technology, which they will describe only as 'clever circuitry that makes an object resonate,' and design objects that would indeed resonate, the way a violin does, while also shedding light, thereby eliminating the need for dedicated speakers," she writes. The exhibition debuted at the Milan Furniture Fair. [The Moment]
