Never is wretched excess celebrated with such mindless abandon as during the waning days of the calendar year, otherwise known as the holiday season. Which is why we've asked James Swan, Beverly Hills decorator, past contributor, and author of the "101 Things I Hate About Your House" Facebook page—and, soon, book—to produce a limited Curbed National series entitled The Sins of Holiday Decorating.
Like a notch on a well worn belt, Christmas, and all its decorative frenzy, is already just a memory. For better or worse, though, the big “C” is a definitive holiday offering a wide range of themes for those inclined toward festively decking their homes. New Year's Eve, by contrast, offers shoddy guidelines, bringing us to the last of our holiday series: Sinful New Year's Decorating. The photogallery above proves that some old acquaintances should, in fact, "be forgot and never brought to mind."
