With all the hype about President Obama's newly decorated digs, the only patriotic thing to do is think about the zillions of changes the Oval Office has seen in the century or so of its existence. There seems to be no strong trend about whether Dems or Repubs enacted the heaviest decorating changes—FDR, Nixon, Ford, both Bushes and Clinton were among the biggest overhaulers.
