In today's installment of yes, this really happened, in 2005 Ikea Germany created a commercial that satirized Midsummer, Sweden's (and many other European nations') celebration of the summer solstice. The holiday traditionally is a huge party with folk costumes, plenty of food, singing, and dancing around a maypole. But wait! Ikea is a Swedish furnishings company and the whole Midsummer-on-crack thing didn't fly with the honchos at the head office. It was banned from ever airing, but luckily the artistic genius still remains on YouTube.
