Spanish Pop-Up Hotel's Looking Pretty Trashy These Days

Pop-up stores, pop-up restaurants, and now please welcome pop-up hotels that make sociopolitical statements. The Beach Garbage Hotel, from German artist Ha Schult, is clad in debris and scraps from from beaches, landfills, and flea markets, offering a warm and seaweed-y welcome to tourists clocking to Madrid for the International Tourism Trade Fair. "I created the Beach Garbage Hotel because the oceans of our planet are the biggest garbage dump," Schult told Agence France-Presse. Not anymore, Ha! It would appear that title now belongs to Plaza de Callao, where the hotel stands until Jan. 23.
