Before he passed away, a retired schoolteacher in Bath, England, thought he would make a marble urn more useful, so he drilled holes in it and turned it into an electrified lamp, gaudy 70s-style red lampshade and all. Later Christie's auctioneers identified the "monstrosity" as a Roman urn dating back 2,000 years and put it on the block for $16K. It just sold to a dealer for some $910K. [Daily Mail]
