Politico has a terrific piece on author and journalist Richard Ben Cramer's chronicle What It Takes: The Way to the White House, the benchmark account of the 1988 presidential campaign and Joe Biden's failed go-at-it as a Democratic presidential candidate. Fascinating fact: in 1993, Ben Cramer sought Biden's advice before purchasing a farmhouse in Wilmington, Del., explaining that the man who is now the U.S. vice president "had a fabulous way for me to get it all repaired and fixed up and everything" and that he "sees no limits in houses.” [Politico]
