Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.
Location: Palm Springs, Calif.
Price: $725,000
The Skinny: Built by San Francisco-based architect Jim Jennings, Desert One is an inversion of many traditional Palm Springs, Calif. architectural principles. Most of the houses here are designed to take in as much of the surrounding desert as possible, while Jennings' construction is enclosed by an eight-foot concrete block wall. The wall provides privacy, allowing for truly indoor/outdoor spaces that aren't at the mercy of the neighbors. There's just one bedroom and one bath, but this unique white-washed home is priced to compensate for its small size: it's listed for $725K. Jennings was named one of the AD 100, so it's no surprise that his personal retreat turned up in Arch Digest in September 2009.
