After eons of market fun, the 103-room Updown Court has finally sold to an Indian businessman for somewhere in the range of $55M to $65M (current reports vary). A quick refresher: the estate was first listed for $143.5M some six-odd years ago, then skimmed to $123M, seized by the Irish government because self-made property developer Leslie Allen-Vercoe couldn't keep up with the mortgage payments, and chopped again to $65M last month. As for what the anonymous buyer can look forward to: 58 acres of land, 50,000 square feet of living space, a $6M marble driveway, a squash court, a bowling alley, and a whole helluva lot more.
