Is This Bay-Area Zen Mansion Too Slick for Regular Living?

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: San Francisco, Calif.
Price: $9,250,000
The Skinny: Tucked behind an imposing concrete wall, this Stanley Saitowitz-designed steel townhouse in the San Fran neighborhood of Cow Hollow inspired some vitriol in the comments when Curbed SF posted about it last month. The glassy abode is asking a heady $9.25M and the clean lines and dark (read: dusty) wood floors haven't exactly been a crowd-pleaser in the home market. It all photographs well, thanks to frameless frosted glass railings, a hinged wall of a front door, and colorful back garden. But sometimes what's fit for the glossy pages of a design mag isn't exactly livable. There are plenty of amenities to sweeten the deal, like a media room, a three-car garage, tricked out bathrooms, and a rock garden out front, but $9.25M is a lot to pay to feel unfulfilled.
