The Skinny: Rammed-earth construction, whereby the walls of a structure are produced by pressing dirt in on itself, doesn't immediately sound glamorous, despite its sustainable, environmentally sound methods. So it's all the more impressive that this Aspen, Colo. estate, which utilized such a construction, has managed to turn out so stylish. That's due in part to the designer Larry Laslo, who outfitted the house with unique furnishings that complemented the owner's off-beat art collection. Featured in the March 2009 issue of Metropolitan Home, the modern manse is currently the Aspen home of developer Courtney Lord, his wife Karen, and their two children. The 9,100-square-foot mansion features five bedrooms and six baths, and sits on a 1.2-acre lot. An additional 2.5 acres is also available, but that's not included in the $10.75M price tag.
