Brasilia, the Brazilian capital created out of a broad swath of jungle in the 1950s, has many a masterpiece by the legendary architect Oscar Niemeyer. Somehow the Times reporter who penned "36 Hours in Brasilia" managed to tear himself away from the swoops and the spires long enough to discover a real city beneath the slick facade. [NYT]
