Shoo-In For Texas' Most Ridiculous Manse Hits the Market

New, 2 comments

Called the "House of Wow" by the Houston real estate blog Swamplot, this three-bedroom, 4,100-square-foot brick traditional in Houston was built in the mid-'30s and renovated a half-century later. The interiors were done up by decorator George Weinle, who used a palette of mint green, yellow, and salmon red throughout, causing the Houston Chronicle to describe the place as the "happiest house in Houston." Some close-up details: a custom palm-tree pouf in the living room, green Chippendale chairs surrounding the dining table, various Asian sculptures, custom red woodwork in the library, intricately carved screens in one of the bathrooms, and a breakfast area painted with clouds. All this—shrouded by that which Swamplot calls a "staid and calming exterior"—is asking $2.08M.
