Hamburg's Old Port, once a run-down section of town populated by disused warehouses, has recently been transformed into HafenCity, with buildings by world-renowned architects like Herzog & de Meuron and Richard Meier. Of course the financial crisis has had its impact here too, and the planned Rem Koolhaas-designed science center has been scrapped. [Arch Record]
