In 1951, jazz legend Ella Fitzerald moved to Queens, N.Y., where she set up shop at 179-07 Murdock Ave. in a section of the St. Albans neighborhood that was just approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The 422 houses in the Addisleigh Park Historic District, all built between the '10s and the '30s, have had many famous residents over the years, ranging from Lady Ella to Count Basie to James Brown.
