A recent Czech study finds that three-year-olds growing up in homes heated by coal fireplaces tended to be about half an inch shorter than their peers growing up in homes heated electrically or by gas. One expert says, "While the difference in height is not large, it does indicate that exposure to dirty fuel sources has an influence on basic processes associated with growth." No word yet as to whether this is all a bunch of hot air. [Daily Mail]
