As a general rule of thumb, if you're a starchitect looking to design some sort of glassy, steely new building, Paris probably isn't going to welcome you with open arms. Just ask Frank Gehry, whose dreamy Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation building was just halted by a judge after locals pleaded to never let him build it in the first place. (The official reason for the injunction was that the building blocked the road.) Jean Nouvel came to Gehry's rescue, publicly declaring that he's "outraged by the selfishness, lack of civic pride and ignorance.” [Independent via UnBeige]
