Marcel Wanders's New Plates

The bright spot of today's New York Times Home & Garden section—amid stories about, say, zinc slates—is a Q&A with Dutch designer Marcel Wanders. On Dressed, his latest tabletop collection for Alessi, Wanders explains: "If you look through cutlery and plates from other designers and also from Alessi, they’ve been dictated by a pretty minimalist approach. I think dining is something you could call festive. It’s with friends. So I wanted to find a way to do this activity and have it be more interesting, more fabulous. That’s why we called it Dressed." He also admits to being inspired by the beautiful "fantasy women" in his office. [NYT]
