As the crown jewel of the Singapore Biennale that just kicked off, Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi was commissioned to build a one-room pop-up hotel around the 28-foot-tall Merlion statue that's one of the country's most recognizable landmarks. The Merlion Hotel is booked until it closes mid-May, although it's open for public viewing during the day. Apartment Therapy notes its "luxury amenities and personalized services such as a dedicated Merlion Hotel butler and breakfast," but we can't help but wonder how easy it would be to sleep while a crazy half-lion, half-fish is breathing over you.
