Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura has won the 2011 Pritzker Prize, which is sort of like the Nobel of the industry. Said jury chair Lord Palumbo in his usual lordly way: "[de Moura's] buildings have the unique ability to convey seemingly conflicting characteristics—power and modesty, bravado and subtlety, both public authority and a sense of intimacy–at the same time.” [Architect's Newspaper via Curbed NY]
