Glass House Trading on Dubious Starchitect References

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.
Price: $3,450,000
The Skinny: Set on a secluded hilltop in the Hudson Valley hamlet of Cornwall-on-Hudson, this glassy four-bedroom house has plenty going for it: views over the river, superior materials, a loft-like open floorplan, and four acres of private land surrounded by 1,600 acres of conservation land and parks. So when the listing goes off on some tangent about the Pompidou Center, dropping names like Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Richard Meier and the Gwathmey-Siegel partnership, it seems wholly unnecessary. Luckily things return to reality with a description of the house's R16-rated glass—providing better insulation than a traditional home's walls—which was coated with a UV-blocking tint, and luxe finishes, like quarter-sawn white oak floors, imported limestone, and exotic Anigre wood cabinetry from the Ivory Coast. What goes unmentioned is the $2M in price chops this house has endured over more than two years on the market.
