TweetingSeat Brings Twitter a Wee Bit Closer to Your Derriere

New, 3 comments

Gosh, sometimes 140 characters seems so cumbersome! It'd be a whole lot easier if there were something that would Tweet automatically when people engage in the simple, lazy act of sitting down. Thankfully, Irish product designer Chris McNicholl has turned Twitter into furniture (Twurniture?) with his TweetingSeat, a bench "designed to explore the potential for connecting physical and digital communities by logging its usage through uploading images of its users and environment to a live Twitter feed." If sitting on a park bench sounds boring, McNicholl would beg to differ—he's positioned two cameras to capture all the action on and around the seat. "The aim of TweetingSeat is for people and communities to form their own relationship with the object through the way in which they choose to use it," he writes. And that's a sentiment that takes far more than 140 characters to express.
