On Jan. 3, we declared the sitting room above the worst room of the year—a little premature, maybe, but sometimes you've just got to go with it. Well, apparently no amount of errant purple has the power to make the world come to a screeching halt, which is why Villa Collina, the 50-room pride of Knoxville, Tenn., is finally under contract with an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed sum. Let's review some of the perks, shall we? Indoor and outdoor pools, a 1,900-square-foot wine grotto, 11 full baths, and a dance floor. It hit the market a year ago for $21M and couldn't sell, despite one broker hearing "people speculate that Villa Collina would be a good location for a luxury health spa, where visitors could stay for two or three weeks, lose weight and get their eating habits in order." Last we looked at it, Villa Collina had been price-slashed to $12.5M; it was due to go to auction next week.
