Less than a month ago, Marion Madoff—wife of the Ponzi schemer's brother, Peter—had to bear further indignity when she lowered the price on her Palm Beach mansion by $600K. Well apparently that allowed the buyer to move past the psychological hurdles that come with monetizing ill-gotten gains. After all, Peter Madoff was the chief compliance officer at his brother's firm and was partially responsible for swindling many of Palm Beach's most powerful residents out of their millions. Perhaps that buyer—who has wisely decided to conceal their identity with a trust—can find solace in the fact that they bilked Ms. Madoff out of almost $1M. The final sale price was $5.5M.
