So, here's the deal: PIN-UP, "the magazine for architectural entertainment," has commissioned a bunch of guys to design a bunch of crazy nightstands for art and auction house Phillips de Pury because, according to the mission statement, "The nightstand betrays more about our character than we might realize!" Aside from of-the-moment furniture designers such as Rafael de Cárdenas, one contributor is R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who designed what Co.Design calls "that hunk of black stuff you see above." Yikes! And what do prices of $3,500 to $6,500 reveal about our character? Head over to Co.Design for the slideshow of the entire collection or see the brief video after the jump.
