Treme Star Wendell Pierce Makes a Plea For Modernism

Today Architizer takes a peek at Do.co.mo.mo, an organization devoted to the conservation of modernist buildings and neighborhoods. The conservation of modernism! My, how the tables have turned. They've just released a video to raise public support for the preservation of the Phillis Wheatley Elementary School (above), which was completed in 1955 by a consortium of architects and has been largely neglected by New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. It's slated for demolition in August. Wendell Pierce, star of The Wire and Treme, narrates.
