A Glassy Midcentury Malibu Manse With Just A Peek at the Pacific

New, 4 comments

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Malibu, Calif.
Price: $8,500,000
The Skinny: Nestled up in Malibu's Ramirez Canyon, this glass-walled 1951 estate offers stunning outdoor entertaining spaces, casual, chic interiors, and 11 acres of privacy. So what's the catch? Despite its location in a town synonymous with the beach and surfing, there's just a sliver of an ocean view. The three-bedroom modern has been set on a plinth to make the most of those views, but they still don't hold a candle to the beachfront mansions. Then again, at $8.5M, this place is a steal compared to the $75M True Blood megamansion we looked at in November. One more caveat: no sports cars allowed. Why? Because that dip in the driveway would tear up the underside of a Ferrari in one pass. That might be a deal breaker for auto-minded Californians.
