For a second there it looked like actress Kate Hudson could become this season's Lady Gaga, of house hunters that is. Last year the rumor mill was churning over where the lady of the meat dress would be spending her summers—she reportedly settled on Martha's Vineyard. After Hudson scooped up a London pied-a-terre for $6.5M, then started touring houses in Malibu, we were sure to be headed for a summer of entertaining conjecture. Well, now she's gone and ruined it. Hudson threw down $5.3M for the 1935 Tudor Revival mansion next door to her long-time home in Pacific Palisades, Calif. No word yet on what she plans to do with the 7,000-square-foot spread or her current home, where she spent some of her childhood and considerable expense renovating with the help of Roman & Williams.
