Here Now, a Tour of House Beautiful's Kitchen of the Year

Celebrity chef and House Beautiful contributing food editor Tyler Florence gave the New York Times a peek at this year's Kitchen of the Year on Thursday, but—let's face it—that one shot of a pile of bricks didn't really show off the goods. The 2,600-square-foot indoor/outdoor space, smack dab on the Plaza in NYC's Rockefeller Center, officially opened today with a segment on the Today Show and a media preview luncheon, which we braved despite the 90-plus temps. The goal was to create "new American living room," Florence told Today Show correspondent Lester Holt. "Everyone can come in and relax and hang out and have a good time." This year's sponsors include Homestyler (software that helped conceive the space), Kravet (whose fabrics covered the dining room chairs), Kate Spade (the tabletop items), and Restoration Hardware (the kids' table and the outdoor furniture), not to mention Kohler, Caesarstone, KitchenAid, and Ann Sacks. Let's explore the "Northern California" kitchen, shall we? (Editor's note: Please excuse the massive amount of people in the photos above. It was crowded. Almost certainly better visuals will be published in the October issue of House Beautiful. And Florence wasn't actually around when we stopped by, so you won't find him in any of the shots.)
