In October, nearly one year after Marimekko opened its first shop-in-shop within a Crate and Barrel store in NYC, the Finnish textiles firm is branching out on its own by opening its first flagship in a corner building in the Flatiron District. For the next few weeks, the building will be teasingly wrapped in really wild paint—a mural created by Marimekko designer Aino-Maija Metsola—but we snuck a peek at what, exactly, the new 4,000-square-foot space will offer. Here's a hint: a mix of new color palettes for existing patterns and totally new patterns entirely. Do have a look at some exclusive shots of the fall 2011 home decor collection in the photogallery above, and then head on over to our sister site Racked NY for the clothes and a video tour of the store, which was designed to mirror the Marimekko flagship in Helsinki.
