American architect Pierre Koenig became famous for his contributions to Art & Architecture's Case Study House Program, particularly Case Study House #22 (Stahl House), which was completed in 1959. Evidence of that aesthetic—the cantilever, the glass and steel, the views, although not the pool—can be seen here, in his last completed work. Now on the market for $2.3M, the Michael Gantert House was built in 1981 and boasts an upside-down layout, with the common spaces on the top (street) level and the bedrooms hovering underneath. The 1,994-square-foot property is perched on a hilltop ridge overlooking Hollywood and the ocean.
