The Skinny: This four-bedroom midcentury masterpiece, known as The Walker Residence, was built by architect Rodney Walker as his private residence in 1959. Set on a 3.4-acre hilltop in Ojai, Calif., the dramatic house features an overarching triangular roof with overhanging eaves that shade and protect the many outdoor entertaining spaces, but the finest feature, given the superb vantage point, are the glass walls, which account for nearly the whole exterior of the 4,300-square-foot house. The architect was responsible for projects #16, #17, and #18 in the California Case Study Program—houses commissioned by Art & Architecture magazine from 1945 to '66—and his work was photographed regularly by the late, great architectural photographer Julius Shulman.
