Don't let stones anywhere near this place! It's a four-bedroom, 8,694-square-foot modern on 100 feet of frontage on Lake Tahoe, Nev., that was designed a couple of years ago to include angled floor-to-ceiling walls, a glass elevator, and a spectacular glass staircase—god forbid one ascends all six stories without glimpsing the water! Trulia's Luxe Living blog picked up the listing from the Wall Street Journal, which describes the siting as such: "Only the garage is viewable from the street; the rest of the home is built into a granite slope and looks out at the lake." Sounds nice, right? Well, it's worlds away from Tahoe's other newsmaker—the 20,000-square-foot Tranquility estate that has just been PriceChopped to $75M—and it's got an amenity roster that's far less extravagant. Those views and the open floorplan nearly make up for the lack of 3,200-bottle wine cellar, but it's hard ever to justify $43M.
