As part of a bid to raise cash from underutilized assets, the U.S. government has moved to sell Plum Island, N.Y. The 840-acre island off the tip of Long Island's North Fork is formerly home to the Animal Disease Center, the rumored source of the beguiling Montauk Monster. Apparently some light "biohazard remediation" may be necessary. [NYT]
