"el Masterpiece" Even Less Modest than Title Would Suggest

New, 1 comment

The controversial Polish starchitect Daniel Libeskind has moved into the light fixture business with "el Masterpiece," an angular chandelier meant to evoke the "cosmic light the fills the universe." The architect recruited his astrophysicist son to come up with an algorithm to drive the 1,680 LED lights in a sequence, with a billion years condensed into one second. The lamp/artwork is certainly imposing, with stainless steel panels encapsulating a 24-karat-gold-plated core. Though it debuted a month ago at Art Basel Miami, there's still no word on just how many of these limited edition "masterpieces" will be sold and at what price.
