Lighting Firm Creates Church Mosaic From 55,000 LED Bulbs

In a show of astonishing artistry (not to mention patience), 80-year-old Italian lighting company Luminaire de Cagna has installed 55,000 LED lights in the colonnade of a cathedral in Ghent, Belgium. The colorful installation, part of this year's Ghent Light Festival, rises 90-plus feet high and utterly transforms the Romanesque architecture into a larger-than-life mosaic. Somewhat mindboggling, but it actually makes sense in this context, for this year's lighting-festival theme is "happiness and music."
