Rapper Pharrell Designs 'Ice Cream City' With Starchitect

Über-rapper and furniture designer Pharrell Williams has linked up with yet another architectural endeavor: he and architect Chad Oppenheim have just released a staggering set of renderings for Ice Cream City, a mixed-use Miami complex aimed at revitalizing a blighted part of the city. The fantasylike, if not implausibly neon and completely tripped-out, illustrations show plans for the country's largest skatepark, residences, big-box retailers such as Target, and artists' workshops, all situated in a pedestrian-friendly microcosm. Curbed Miami calls the urban funhouse "a wild amalgamation of a million bold ideas," and that it is, even if this is ends up being one psychedelic thought experiment: details about the developers, budget, and timeline are "forthcoming." Whip out those 3D glasses and head to Curbed Miami for a closer look.
