Popstar and paparazzi darling Britney Spears has just snatched up an $8.5M Hacienda-style mansion in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Spears has an unwieldy real estate history, with enough former homes and rentals to, if cobbled together, make a plush (if bland) SoCal neighborhood all on their own. Her most recent investment, a 8,456-square-foot meandering single-story with five bedrooms, has no dearth of overused millionaire classics like limestone floors, exposed beams, and lofty archways. Sure, it's kind of blah, but in a town that has seen some abysmally over-decorated homes on the market, the one Spears and Hollywood poohbah fiancé Jason Trawick chose seems nicely understated in comparison. Other predictable features, according to the Real Estalker: a wet bar, a walk-in wine room, an infinity pool and a five-car garage. There's also a library, which was obviously a must-have for the popstar; what would she do without a place to curl up with her favorite Tolstoy? But in all seriousness, the only surprising thing about this house would be if the reading room actually contained bona-fide reading material.
