Location: Bremen, Ala.
Price: $7,000,000
The Skinny: Sometimes, it's easy to price a home, thanks to current comps and a robust housing market. Sometimes, not so much, as with this $7M lakeside mansion in Bremen, Ala., far and away the most expensive house in the region, a vacation getaway from nearby Birmingham. The pricing problem is exacerbated by the unique mansion itself. Perched on a cliff above Lewis Smith Lake, the 6,200-square-foot spread has four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, plus some crazy features, like a cliff-front turret, columns galore, and a master bathroom with a tiled swoop that terminates in a jacuzzi. The $7M price tag is nearly assuredly too much for this neck of the woods, but a sprawling garage outbuilding helps make a case. It's currently stocked with an RV, a car lift, a bevy of motorcycles, and a rare (and gigantic) piece of Jurassic Park memorabilia.
