British architect Norman Foster, the mastermind behind the Hearst Tower and London's Gherkin, beat out all-stars Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, and Richard Rogers for the chance to recreate a midtown high-rise on Park Avenue. Foster's conceptual proposal, a gleaming tower with an interior to accommodate a collaborative workplace, will begin construction in 2015 and (reportedly) open in 2017.
