Did Ikea once force East German political prisoners to make some of its furniture during the years preceding the fall of the Berlin Wall? Yes! And the Swedish flatpack juggernaut regrets it terribly: "We are deeply sorry that this could happen," a rep said in a statement, admitting that "political prisoners and convicts were partly involved in producing parts or pieces of furniture" during the '70s and '80s.
