Never ones to shy away from the strange, Ikea has amassed quite the portfolio of TV ads over the years, including commercials in which a giant teddy bear frolics about, a leotard-clad acrobat leaps into the catalog, and slovenly actors offer a butchered rendition of the Swedish tradition of Midsummer. BuzzFeed recently enumerated the 10 funniest Ikea spots, and by far the strangest is this 2001 ad (below), which was conceived by Norway firm New Deal DDB and features a perfect-suburbs-undone, fetishistic sort of theme.
