Is This Over-Swanked Deck in Dallas Just Trying Too Hard?

While Texas real estate rarely shies away from the outlandish—it is, after all, the land of dead animal houses, some intensely ugly kitchens, and, lest we forget, Nassau Bay's utterly mindboggling "purple people eater"—the rooftop deck of this Dallas penthouse, on the market for $14M, still manages to be an extravagant surprise. With Tron-style tract lighting, a chrome-plated tree (?), an over-sized task lamp, a giant chessboard, light-up rocks, several bars, and quite a number of flat-screen TVs, it may be safe to say that this smörgåsbord of luxurious outdoor amenities toes the line between indulgence and insanity. That's not to say most wouldn't enjoy lounging in those tangerine thrones—in fact, the whole place gives off the kind of vibe that a certain New Orleans Saints head coach seem to love—but still, somebody's interior designer perhaps could have used an editor. See it all above.
