New to the market in Los Angeles is the sexy modernist home of the late rockstar of hair, Vidal Sassoon. The hairdresser, known for his mod approach to styling (he created Mia Farrow's Rosemary's Baby 'do, among others) once told Arch Digest that "architects have always been my heroes," so it's no surprise passed owning this swanky perch on Mulholland Drive. The airy 6,400-square-foot Singleton House asks $17.995M, taking a $2M pricechop from the last time the Richard Neutra-designed abode hit the market. (In 2007, the Singleton sat stagnant on the market at $19.955M.) The 1959 homage to perpendicular lines—based on Sassoon's other real estate purchases—the guy seemed to really like the horizontal, midcentury look—has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool, and a media room. It's all proof that architects can provide chic shelter for hairdressers—even if architects should never actually do the styling themselves.
