This Contemporary Palace is Rumored to be Asking $150M

Rumor has it that this imposing contemporary manse in Bel Air, Calif.—Robb Report's "Ultimate Home" last year—is being clandestinely shopped around for a staggering $150M, enough clams to put the place in the ranks of the world's most expensive listings. The news that an unnamed billionaire (Real Estalker has been told it may be "one Saudi prince or another") is listing for this kind of moolah comes just months after word hit that two other super-wealthy Tinseltowners—billionaire real estate tycoon Jeff Green and billionaire widow Dawn Arnall—are both asking the same mind-numbing figure for their own ostentatious digs.

Anyway, this 40,000 square-foot estate, a contemporary group of discrete structures hewn from rough-cut sandstone, glass, and stucco, includes a full-service spa, a bar wrapped in Italian leather, a master suite coated in white onyx and bleached zebrawood, and a whopping 28 bedrooms. Step outside and find more decadent amenities like a terraced orchard and an infinity-edge pool. Architectural highlights of the Richard Landry-designed palace include foot bridges that connect the main house with the guest, staff, and entertainment wings, a custom "spinelike" helix staircase that weaves through the main house's four floors, and "many different layers and floating walls, in order to give it extra dimension," Landry says.

The master suite, encased in zebrawood, includes a dressing and seating area and a fireplace that's "surrounded by backlit honey onyx," according to Robb Report. Says interior designer David Phoenix of the suite: "It's like being inside of a jewel box." View more interior shots, right this way.
