The corner lot at East Cooper Avenue and South Original Street, which currently houses the Dominos, a nail salon, and sandwich champion Johnny McGuire's, has gone under contract for $1.49 million. No word who the buyer is yet, but there's already some fancy artist renderings of a possible future redevelopment of the lot, which hint at the possibilities of adding penthouse apartments or some sort of new lodge above the first-floor commercial space. Does the front-and-center placement of the rusting Johnny McGuire pickle-topped orange Beetle in the renderings signify the intention to keep that infamous sandwich spot in the new building as part of the deal? Perhaps they'll even install stadium seating so patrons can watch the piles of sizzling bacon on the grill. One can only hope.
